Mobile Mammography Coming to Monroe Family Health Center October 27thPosted 02/19/21
Ohio Hills Health Services is pleased to partner with the Ohio State University Breast Health Connection Project, The James-The Ohio State Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Ohio Department of Health to bring mobile mammography to Woodsfield, Ohio. The mobile mammography unit will be at the Monroe Family Health Center, 37984 Old Airport Road, Woodsfield, Ohio on Wednesday, October 27th from 9:30 AM until 3:30 PM.
Everyone is welcome. Area residents who are uninsured or underinsured and meet certain income guidelines may be eligible for a free mammogram. Most health insurances are also accepted.
“COVID-19 is preventing many individuals from obtaining recommended routine health screenings. We encourage area women take advantage of the mobile mammography offered through the Ohio State University Breast Health Connection Project,” said Heather Saffle, RN, BSN, Health Center Manager, Monroe Family Health Center. “We are pleased that the mobile unit is willing to come to Woodsfield. It is a great service for our community.”
Mammography is the most effective screening tool used today to find breast cancer in women. The American Cancer Society recommends monthly breast self-examinations, physician exams and annual mammograms after the age of 40 to detect breast cancer. However, the benefits of mammography vary by age. If you have questions regarding your need for a mammogram talk to your health care provider.
Extra precautions will be taken to keep patients safe. Patients will register at a table outside of the mobile unit and asked to wait outside or in their car until their appointment. All surfaces will be disinfected between patients.
Early detection saves lives. If you have questions or to schedule an appointment, please call Sherri Smith at 844-284-PINK (7465).
